Getting Better all the time....
(camera picture notes)
My Canon 20d with 50mm 1.8 lens ( thats what makes only one section sharp and the rest falling out of focus)
The light is early(ish) morning light coming through the window. (this is what gives the whites a blue tone)
Doing a slight crop after the shot helps to give it a pop.
Right enough of that. So I didn't get to go to the Blue Moon Coffee Cafe last night but i did get to knit. We had Manfrotto training yesterday so I had some time on my hands for about 1&1/2 hours. I don't think the Trainer liked that i was knitting but :P
I have to keep my hands busy it helps me consentrate. When i finished the heal guset i put it down. Mostly because I thought it might be rude to look at the pattern to duble check. When I put down the knitting, I started to do the head bob. You know the one where you all the sudden knowtice your head on your chest... oops.
That said the Jay walker is coming along swimingly now. I made it a short ankle because it's for my Sis and she doesn't like tall socks. My progress on it might slow down a bit right now though because Halo 3 is now here and, well I need to find out what happened to Cortana. I really need to know.
When I was knitting it befor class last night (it's the thing i do to get into the teaching zone) the Beatles song "Getting Better" popped into my head. And, it is.

3rd attempt
It finaly makes since! Though I was a bit worried when i started the heal flap.
I really think this looks good with the Jitterbug yarn. I think I like my picture of it better, the colors are a little extreme on the web site.
We went out to see a movie and have some lunch to day with Target Friend. I got a little KIPing going with this sock. Though I don't think the waitress thought it was cool. But she was a bit snotty anyway because TF only got a drink. *shrug* Isn't it better not to eat if you aren't hungry?
On thing I've found out is that I shouldn't work on patterned knits when HT is playing BioShock or Halo3 (when that comes out and to the house on Tuesday). Oh and I downloaded a WOW Alliance wall paper today. I'm going to try and figure out how to make it into a color-work pattern.
It's going to be tricky.

heating the head.
I finished Nicole's B-day/X-mas present today. The button is a nice clam/oster shell button from Joan's and the yarn is from the pedicure socks I was going to make. I think this Calorimetry turned out pretty well.
I got to go to the Blue Moonies last night. :)
It was great. I got to see MamaGrouch's Jaywalker up close. I think it will help. I'm going to try this one more time before I give up on it for ever.
I'm working on socks for HT. It's his B-day tonight. They aren't done yet, but he generally doesn't celebrate his B-day so they can be a late gift. Well of to knit more gifts.

jitterbugs and jaywalkers
They have both been Frogged and now the yarn is back in a state like this. I don't know what it is about those patterns but I just wasn't feeling them. The Jitterbug was just too plain maybe. The jaywalker I just didn't get the pattern.
It's probably the way it was written, but it just wasn't making sense to me. I might ask some of the Blue Moonies if they can bring their Jaywalkers so that I can see what the pattern looks like up close or i may just not jump on this band wagon.
Besides there are a lot of Cookie A. socks out there to knit still.

the electronic sock
" You make for mez?"
Because isn't everything for the kitties? :)
Sorry Girmlock, but this sock is for Dad's camera. *pats kitty on the head*
So yes i finished a sock and graffed it properly, but it not for toes. It is for the Olympus 720 that I got of my Dad. He's broken a few of his digital cameras. Not intentionaly of course, so i thought i would get him the shock/drop/crush proof one. I hope he likes it. He should be up today and so are HT's parents. So our 2 families are finaly going to get to meet.
That's a good thing right?

jitterb....
... bug? I think i goofed up and made it a little short.
What do you think?
I think I'm going to frog back to where i started the decrese and go again.
Or if anyone knows anyone who has short, stubby feet I could always make one like this for them.
I need to work on my grafting too. I haven't quiet got that down yet.
Ah well still learning.

maybe one day.
Grimlock is wondering if someday I should do a contest on my little blog? Maybe when I get myself to 25 or 50 posts.
It seems to be the thing to do on knitting blogs.
On Becky knits too there is a contest about what to do with 4ply Rowan yarn.
Knittymama has a contest to raise $ for flooded organic farms in southern MN.
um, don't quiet know if i will. I signed up for Sock Wars 2, so i guess that mean i'm up for random knitting strangeness.

internet vs. RL stores
I can't remember if I posted about Happy Hour at the Yarn Cafe in Maple Grove last week. If I did sorry for the repeat.
It was different. I really like the store and lay out. It was easy to walk through and look at things. All the yarn was tagged with price and the workers were helpful but not to pushy.
The ladies that came to knit were different too. Jacqueline and I went to check it out for the Moonies. "Bless yer' heart" was said a few times about knitting and holding 2 yarns at once. There were strong personalities, knitters making babies sweaters with size 2s and an Internet compute set up. I showed them Ravelry and then i was shown a site or 2.
Now here's where it gets a little uncomfortable. I'm not the best with new people anyway (shocked aren't you), but when new people show me the website they like to buy yarn from in a LYS, well that just gets me in the wrong mood. I truly believe in supporting local business. It makes our economy stronger and it makes for better neighborhoods. But there's something about the suburbs that makes people think "I'll look at it in the store, get help from staff, and then buy it on line." *Sigh* it just makes me want to shake people.
Other than that. I was a pretty good evening. Jacqueline found a place near work to hang out at and I found a model for my "If I win the lotto, I'll have a yarn store/cafe" dream. It's also a place I'm going to take my Mom to the next time she comes up for a visit.

jitterbug...
"Wake me up! Before you go go!" has been stuck in my head all day. Why? because i'm knitting the Jitterbug Sock yarn and pattern. That still doesn't make sence? Well right be for the song starts there is a deep booming voice saying/singing/intoning "Jitterbug". And well I tend to make random connections that of things to songs that will get stuck in my head. Fun hun?
In other random knitty news I blocked my Monkey socks and something about the smell of wool/man made yarn has made my girl cat go a bit balmy. Siren had to first sit on the socks that were drying. Then when they were moved (she likes to munch on yarn), she had to sit at the base of the tall thing they were placed on and cry about how i wouldn't put her up there so she could play with the yarn. Even after the socks have been put away she still sits there thinking she needs to be on top. *Sigh* She can be quiet demanding sometimes.
Though other times (like the picture) she doesn't care about yarn at all. *Shrug*

knitty people like my photos :)
Real quick i'll give you the run down about my photography and other people.
In High School: (yes it started back then) people in class and teachers liked it. I was even asked to be in a small art-fest. Then only one person at the art-fest bought something. A sweet girl that i will always remember bought a picture of my boots for $5. The rest of the people just made stupid comments.
In College: people in class though i was technicly good, but they didn't like my ideas behind the work. (important to note that they understood the idea i was trying to get across) Only a few really liked them or would try to give helpful cits of the work. That said the visiting artists (not the visiting journalist teacher, he was an ass) all seemed to like my work. Which of course startled and freeked me out.
After College: I've been asked to have my work in 3 shows.
One at the Spyhouse (boy they need a website) with a painter.
One at the SooVac in the "Untitled 4" group show. Techincly i submitted for that one, but 4 of my photographs were picked :)
One at the Around the Coyote gallery in Chicago for the Gameplay: Video Games in Contemporary Art Practice show. The courator found me. I didn't sell anything, but they kept the work to show at a big Chicago touristy show.
So i still haven't sold anything but people seem to like it. Humm that wasn't that short was it. Anyway, now i have my photographs of Lana Grossa Quattro yarn up on the Ravelry main page for that. :) Though i don't like that the entry says that it is discontinued. I love making wrist warmers out of that yarn! :(
I think that's enough for now. Laters.
